Aurum Urens

FROM ASHES TO GOLD

Aurum Urens, (from Latin “The Ardent Gold”) is the latest body of work by Michele Ardu, inviting viewers to reflect on the preciousness and fragility of nature.
Through the power of art, it explores the universal drama of wildfires and their profound environmental and emotional impact.
The project features a series of golden sculptures crafted from wood collected in various wildfire-affected locations.
Each sculpture is made using the authentic remains of trees that have endured the violence of fire. After carefully selecting and preparing the wood, the artist envelops it in a mantle of gold. This gold, in stark contrast to the charred surfaces, becomes a powerful metaphor for destruction and rebirth.
